Welcome to my blog. If you've made it this far, I can already tell you're a real one. Anyway, as I sit on my sofa at 11:36 am on a Wednesday morning crafting my first blog post, I suddenly have no clue what to write about. Do I share more about who I am? Should I detail why I started this blog? Or should I simply write about what I've been up to during these times of social distancing?

Although all very fair ideas, I'm going to go with talking about why I started this blog. In my About page, I mention my journey with writing– how from hating it, I went to appreciating it–so I'm not going to touch too much on that.
Ever since middle school, I've been interested in the idea of a blog. I probably created at least five different blogs ranging from travel to general bits of my life. However, I never managed to maintain them and that was probably because I hated the act of writing. My view of writing being the most challenging thing ever definitely deterred me from blogging in the past. I struggled to articulate my thoughts, even more than now, and didn't understand how writing is one of the most valuable methods of communication we have.
With my new understanding and appreciation for writing, now became the perfect time to start this blog (and of course being in quarantine). You might be wondering, "Why would a microbio, pre-med college student start a blog? Don't 'science people' dislike this type of writing?" Well first of all, don't make assumptions. Secondly, even as a "science person," I find this type of writing to be very important. It was after I wrote an Op-Ed about Racism and COVID-19 that it really hit me how impactful writing can be. Soon after, I realized I want to use writing to share what I consider "profound" and important thoughts with those around me.
In addition to sharing "deep" ideas, I wanted to reflect on aspects of my life. By doing so, I hope to find more appreciation and gratitude for the little things around me, whether that be a yummy smoothie bowl or a weekly movie screening with my friends. And since I was already putting in the work to make this blog, I realized, "Why not just also use this blog to elaborate on your new Instagram food account?" Thus, I created this blog to do exactly all of this.
Anyway, if you made it this far, you are really a real one. I hope you enjoy this blog, and please feel free to drop me any suggestions or comments! Constructive criticism is a key to growth.
